Using collaborative VR to design an autonomous sports car that can’t be crashed.
Working with the Transport Design team at Seymourpowell, this project involved providing them with the tools required to not only design a car from the ground up collaboratively, but then visualise it in different environmental settings. The design team needed to quickly evaluate concept data and visualise this in a busy street, as well as a showroom environment.
Many of the transport projects I have been involved in have focused around building bespoke tools to make designer’s lives as easy as possible, whilst still showcasing best in class visuals. For this project, this involved crafting a tool to allow different materials and colours to be adjusted in realtime inside VR, allowing the team to quickly make decisions on the final look and feel of the vehicle.
This project was carried out in collaboration with Top Gear Magazine and another key aspect for the concept car was to design an autonomous vehicle that would be fun to drive if you knew you couldn’t crash. Further information can be found at the link below:
